ABOUT Brian Fontenot

At 44 years old, Brian Fontenot has covered a lot of territory. Raised in the beauty industry, Brian graduated from Slidell High School in 1987 and began working in the field. Soon after graduating from John Jay Beauty College, Brian opened his own business, Attractions Salon, which he continues to own and operate today. Over the last 23 years, Brian has also worked as platform artist for Farouk Systems and as master stylist for Miss Teen USA and Miss USA. He continues his work in pageants serving as a regional judge and consultant for the Miss USA system.
In 2006, Brian starred in “Cabaret” at Slidell Little Theater, which led to a series of awards and three years of service to SLT as board member, actor, director, and costumer. In 2008, Brian pursued his goal of providing the Northshore with an alternative theater venue, resulting in Cutting Edge Theater housed in Attractions on Robert Boulevard in Slidell. For the past 4 years the “salon by day, theater by night” has grown into the Northshore’s most innovative and intimate performance space. Brian and his partner, Richard Fuentes, co-own Cutting Edge and endeavor to bring to the community a diversity of theater offerings ranging from musical comedies to serious plays to original works from local writers. Cutting Edge has recently branched out into youth theater in the form of Actin Up, a theater workshop program designed to expose young Louisianans to the world of live performance and the experience of becoming theater goers themselves.
In addition to these full-time artistic pursuits, Brian researches and travels extensively, always on the look- out for creative inspiration. It is with humility and thanks that Brian receives this nomination, as his only goal is to bring enjoyment and enrichment to others.
