30 years ago we started a company that sells scrap leather by the container load throughout Asia and other parts of the world. During the course of that business many of my suppliers asked me if I would consider buying stock lot and closeout leather hides, I did, and that was the beginning of Discount Leather Hides. Our domestic customers love the product and love the prices. But as we began to sell those hides to domestic upholsterers and leather Crafters at unbelievably low prices we ran into one problem with our upholstery customers. The problem was; we sell closeout leather hides at great prices but they're mostly unique and you can't reorder them. This is a problem for upholsterers who may need an extra hide or two to complete a project.

To solve this problem we begin a relationship with an Italian Tannery to provide the best quality leather available. That relationship is reflected in the hides you see on our website. So rest assured while our name may say "discount" there is nothing discounted about our quality.
